Is it monday? October 24, 2005

Poncho_for_rachael Trying to wrap up some obligatory knitting.  This is a Farmhouse Poncho using Encore Chunky.  I am knitting it for Rachael, the girl who babysat for the kids during the wedding.  She desperately wanted a handknit poncho and we desperately needed a babysitter.  Granny swears Rachael got the better deal but she is a sweet girl and I wanted to knit one for her before we bartered the deal.  Knit in the round on US 10.5′ needles–it’s going fast enough.  It’s not as lovely as Ann’s hand-dyed one but Rachael likes it.  Now to decide between fringe or ribbing.

In other knitting news, once I finish up this poncho, I hope to get back to St. Brigid.  I have other things I need to knit too–don’t get me started on the pulsewarmers–remember them?  There is that Weasley sweater, Kevin’s Dale, a scarf for Gracie, another baby sweater.  Not enough time in the day, huh?  Although I did have a lovely visit with Ann this afternoon.  I dropped off her Better Pal package.  I am a Badder Better Pal deliverer.  That so does not make sense!  Off to knit some more on the poncho.   A new front door goes in tomorrow.

That’s a terrific barter! Where is the pattern? My mom wants a poncho.

I wear my pulsewarmers more than any other item in my wardrobe. They are more essential than underwear around here. I love them so, and they get me more compliments than any other piece of knitwear. I’m planning a whole wardrobe of black and charcoal-colored tops to go with them, as well. My new uniform. *smooch*

Good to hear from you! I’m sure Rachael will LOVE the poncho!

  4. ann Says:

ah – ha!!! do you see how Cara wrote, good to hear from you.

when did she hear from you?
perhaps when you emailed her to tell her you had dropped off my package?

    hmmmm????

  5. I think it was a great trade!

And no, there’s never enough time in the day for all the knitting projects that we’d love, like and hope to do! If only we could add one more day to the week, and declare it a “national knitting day” where you’re not allowed to do anything but…lol!

If someone had you deliver the package they should just be glad you did it with style. Ann must have a ‘real’ nose for that kind of thing to figure it out so quickly.
It’s great to have you blogging again (which is most likely what Cara meant about ‘good to hear from you’). It IS good to hear from you.

Why not let Rachel decided about fringe or ribbing?

  8. Kathy Says:

A good babysitter is definitely poncho-worthy! Plus, how great to make something for someone who will appreciate it.

  9. Samantha Says:

The poncho for your babysitter is very nice. There will never be enough time in the day to get all the knitting and other everyday life stuff done we need/want to get done, but we still just plug away at it. Have a great one! 🙂
