Stealing one from Carole

The Good

Owen_and_other_stuff_009_4 I absolutely love our new bedroom.  Thanks to my mom–we came up with an economic window covering solution.  A big rod over the window!  It was a rushed decision, at Bed, Bath and Beyond, made with three children.  But I like it.  My favorite blue linen duvet won’t match but I have seen some pretty ones in Garnet Hill that I am saving my pennies for.

The Bad

Owen_and_other_stuff_011 The Broadripple Sock is not going to fit Cameron’s teachers foot.  It doesn’t even fit my foot.  Will it fit Gracie’s foot?  Or is this a cat toy?  It’s knit on US 3’s.  One would think it would be pretty  big.  I think I am holding the yarn too tight and not allowing it to relax.  Sigh.

The Ugly

Owen_and_other_stuff_008_1 I had an idea to knit washcloths from the Mason Dixon book as end of the year gifts for teachers.  And I absolutely love Plymouth Royal Bamboo.  However, my bobbles are wonky and my dpn skills crap.  With a nice bar of soap it was a good idea.  C’est la vie.

Lastly, thanks for all of the supportive and understanding and insightful comments regarding Owen and our upcoming school transition.  He was driving me nuts yesterday but then he found my mom’s tam and put it on…my heart melted and I cracked up.  As nutty as he makes me, there is something wonderfully beautiful about that boy.

What a clever idea to hang the curtain above the window! Now you can close the curtains for privacy and darkness but when they are open you still see the architectural details of the window. Your mom is a smart cookie!

See…. he knew he’d gone too far and it was time to make Mommie happy again! Sweet.

I may be a tight knitter when it comes to Cascade Fixation, but I use a US4 for the Broadripple Pattern. i bet i could even use a 5.

You room looks like a fabulous refuge and the new cover will really make it look classy.
The warshrag doesn’t look bad…truly, it will be a nice gift with a bar of soap. Everyone you do will look a little better and it’s a good way to practice DP skills. That Owen is a doll!

    Hey Katy,

I have been thinking of you!

Your bedroom is gorgeous, that light is amazing!

Owen looks so cute in that picture, the boy can rock the tam! Stay strong, everything will work out and hopefully you will all feel settled soon.

    Smiles,
    Michelle

Your bedroom looks beautiful! Like an oasis of calm in a busy house. Ahh — teacher’s gifts — I’m still in denial about that 🙂

Perhpas you can try knitting the socks with 4’s?

  9. Samantha Says:

I love your bed!! It’s gorgeous! I’m glad you found a solution to the window covering issue. 🙂

I hope the bad and the ugly get better. I am knitting some dishcloths for Owen’s teacher as an end of the school year gift. Owen picked the colours — red, orange and yellow. Fun! 🙂

Your Owen is such a cutie. 🙂
