Knitting a bit August 14, 2006

Noro_aurora_sample_revived_from_ugly_1 I haven’t felt much like knitting lately.  I am working–or reworking–this sample from the shop.  It is knit in Aurora from Noro.  It’s kind of a poncho.  I say kind of because it is knit flat and has three holes.  We tried for ages to figure out how to wear this thing.  Granny finally decided it was a three-seater outhouse cozy.  I ripped it back to the first hole and have been reknitting it into a wrap.  It’s an interesting yarn to work with.  I think the effect is quite nice and I am not especially glitzy.

We have more reps coming to the shop.  Patons has a new yarn that I am excited to see.  Normally, I don’t go too crazy for Patons–and it’s not up on their website–but it made with soy and wool.  I can’t wait to feel it.  It self-stripes.  I am a sucker for those striping yarns.

In other news, Cam is enjoying camp.  The story of the dragon chicken lives on.  Owen is reluctant to go to school on non afterschool respite days.  He was so cute last night.  We were all watching tv together and he happily said, "I want cookie."  So we told him to go get one.  With a song in his heart and a dance in his step, he ran to the kitchen saying, "I’m eating.  I’m eating."  I guess you had to be there but it was so cute.

I love that yarn, the colors are very pretty. Don’t find much use for those outhouse cozies in LI though do you;) Glad you decided to re-work it.

I can’t wait to see that new Patons yarn. Patons Classic is actually my bread and butter yarn. I use for just about anything!

I think the cookie thing is absolutely adorable, but then I’m a sucker for cute kids;)

Ooohh, that is pretty. Thanks for the shawl praise. I really enjoyed wearing it at Stitches, which was TOTAL fun! I even got stopped for people to ask and admire it. That only made me MORE conceited!
Hope the kids are enjoying their summer. Mine go back on Wednesday. Sad but glad I am. Knitting time for me now, but less time with them.

I always have a song in my heart when I’m eating, too. Not a cute thing at my age, though. 😉

Owen..what a sweetie. And the 3-seat outhouse has me laughing!

I’ve been wondering….does knitting shop samples make knitting more “work” and less theraputic?

Big hugs to you and your beautiful family, Katy! xoxo

Gil is going through an ‘H’ stage…he says ‘hop tart’ and he used to say pop tart and he also almost said holipop yesterday instead of lolipop.
