Finally took a progress picture of the Leaf Lace shawl, blog contest winnings (thanks Chris) and a FO needlepoint pillow.  Sat down here to upload them and discovered the adapter for the card adapter is missing.  Hmmm…Kevin did you drop it this weekend in Buffalo?

I was plugging along on the Leaf Lace thinking the pattern said 650 yards for the small laceweight and I have a TON of yarn left.  Well, a look at the ballband tells me I have 800 yards.  So I need to find a less than happy medium between 650 and 1175.  And what to do with the glorious Fleece Artist Baby Kid Mohair from Chris.  Did she know it matches my bedroom perfectly?  I am very excited to play with it.

Life still remains completely insane.  We got the call from school the other day that Cameron is reading way below grade level.  They are going to give him 1:1 40 minutes a day 3 times a week with the Wilson teacher.  Owen.  He is flying through sight words.  He is learning–receptively–3 sight words a week.  Expressively it’s not as good but it’s autism.  He’s not much of a talker.  Gracie tried out for the school play.  She was certain she bombed but was called back.  This time she says she bombed the call back.  She’s very upset.  And oh so hormonal!

I tried to make a button for those washing a sweater for Rhinebeck but was failing miserable.  I’ll see if I can get my IT guy to help but if anyone is able.  Please.

Well, I suppose I should get Cam packed up for school and me packed up for Granny’s.  Tomorrow is the last day of the sale.

So little to say September 25, 2006

Where does the time go?  I am having a hard time adjusting to the kids returning to school.  Gone are the lazy days of summer and the return of homework and regular bedtimes.  Kevin and I were off to Buffalo this weekend.  His coworker was getting married.  It was a rushed trip–out Niagara20falls early Saturday AM and home by Sunday afternoon.  We did make a quick detour over to Niagara Falls before flying back.  Kevin had never been and I hardly remember the three times I had been.

I brought the Leaf Lace shawl and knit about 5 rows.  I am hoping to have it finished by Rhinebeck but at this rate…I am not optimistic.  My mom plans to wash a sweater for Rhinebeck.  🙂  I have also considered finally finishing Grant Avenue which my mother gave to me a while back.  We’ll see…

Even my mom is asking… September 12, 2006

When are you going to blog?

This is a knitting blog and I just haven’t accomplished much knitting wise.  I have, however, gotten three kids successfully back to school, cleaned my whole house, masses of laundry (wash, dry, fold and put away), reorganized all my pots and pans, Corningware, mixing bowWhat_was_i_thinkingls and cake pans and knit another bracelet.  My MIL requested a bracelet like the one my mom knit me. I have yet another bracelet to make for Owen’s home teacher who has been with us over 3 years.  I am so freaking braceleted out!  So, what was I thinking when I bought this on eBay?

September 11th came and went.  It didn’t hit me as hard as it has the past years.  I am not sure why.  Perhaps because Kevin held it together better this year than others.  I don’t know.  We watched the program on the children of 9-11 and I just felt so grateful that Kevin made it out alive.  A friend of mine from Owen’s school is a widow now 4 years (her husband died of cancer) and her son is 6 like mine.  He is lower functioning than Owen.  My heart breaks for her.  I have felt a deeper appreciation for all that Kevin is and what he does for me and our kids.  I don’t think I could do this alone.  I know they say you find strength where you didn’t know you had it.  A lot of my strength comes from–this sounds sappy even to me–the love and friendship and laughter we share.

Tomorrow is the anniversary–10 years–of a pregnancy we lost.  That nearly destroyed me and our marriage.  Against all odds and in good times and bad…I love him.  And he makes me laugh.

Wishing peaceful thoughts to all today.

…and coming back again.  I haven’t checked emails and blogs in ages.  My kids start back to school tomorrow and we are trying to enjoy these last rainy days of summer.  Our Labor Day BBQ was a success.  I had a bit too much to drink.  But I think a good time was had by all.  The patio was finished early enough on Friday–despite the doubts of others.  I was in complete End_of_august_025 agreement with her doubts.  Kevin told the guys this though and I believe they worked harder just to prove us wrong.  And him right.

End_of_august_024 The patio set arrived in the rain on Saturday but was as lovely as I remembered!  I’ve got to tell you, the umbrella is so cool–an oval!  Unfortunately, the wind and rains on Saturday meant quite a bit of clean up outside–as well as the usual house tidying but we got it all done in time.  The kids had a blast and the parents relaxed.  It was good.  And Sunday’s weather was too.  Kevin did a fabulous job cooking for our Mexican BBQ.  He’s a doll.

Knitting.  What’s that?  I have it in my head to knit one more square–preferably a log cabin square to tie all my squares together for Annette’s blanket.  The Summer of Stash is over but I am once again overwhelmed by the amount of yarn in my possession.  Kevin made me bring a lot of it up to our room on Saturday/Sunday.  Must knit more and continue to buy less!
